1)Liberals line up

The Colorado Center for Public Humanities at UCDHSC will launch its inaugural "New Visions of the American Scholar" lecture series with liberal giant, Michael Berube, this Thursday at noon, FREE in the Tivoli Turnhalle. Hear Berube bring left to the masses as he trounces whack, right-wing ideologues and ideologies alike. Feeling conservative? Come anyway and find out why the right might not be so right anymore.

2) Small Titanic things

Bob Ballard does good. Make plans to drop by the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to see the rusty crusty fruits of his labors. View gismos, gadgets, and personal effects brought up from the deep, out of Titanic's final resting place on the Atlantic seafloor; feel like the king of the world and relive the moment when the world's most "unsinkable" ocean liner sunk.

3)Blow that horn

Want to hear what the hippies on the hill are listening to? Make your Wednesday way up to Broomfield for the fourth season of the "CU in Broomfield" concert. CU jazz faculty members will be twanging strings and blowing brass in a free concert that pays homage to jazz legends.

4) Walk for the cure

Almost 40 million people are now living with AIDS or are HIV positive. What, besides wearing that condom, are you doing about it? Bust out your Keds this weekend and join the rest of conscientious Colorado for the 20th annual 5K AIDS Walk. Rain or shine the registration beings at 7:30 that morning; walking begins at 9:30. Put that ribbon on and do your part. Go to: www.aidswalkcolorado.org for more details.

5) Next Day

September 11th, 2001, is, of course, a day not soon forgotten. What happened over the next 24 hours, however, might not be as tangible to people outside of NYC. Check out an extraordinary traveling exhibit, showing now at the Aurora History Museum. This tribute to heroes fallen but not forgotten documents the tragedy of the World Trade Center attacks by showcasing artifacts pulled from the madness.
