Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? the latest release from Of Montreal, is a catchy, Bowie-esque parade of electronica. Atlanta, Georgia's Of Montreal has been around the block with eight studio albums and several E.P.s; their newest album flaunts their expertise flamboyantly.

Heavy with drum machines and synthesizers, the '80s references are endless. Front man Kevin Barnes leads the way in this 12-track trip into psychedelic, disco-influenced pop music. Not only did he produce, sing and synthesize the album, he also has his own glam-rock alter ego: 'Georgie Fruit.'

Barnes makes no strides to try and mask the fact that he looks to David Bowie for style and musical guidance. Commonly seen wearing fluorescent eye makeup and bizarre outfits, 'Georgie Fruit' leads the band back in time to the mid-'80s. Some of the standout tracks on Hissing Fauna are "Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse" and "We Were Born The Mutants Again With Leafing." Each song expedites a theatrically affable boy searching for attention. The album is good among its genre, but probably won't see a ton of fans outside of the electro congregation. Of Montreal picks up where glam rock left off, making a home for sentimental fans to outlet their robotronic dance moves. Hissing Fauna is Of Montreal's third full-length release with Polyvinyl Records since signing with them in 2004. The label and band seem to be a good fit that will likely continue to release these glitzy retrospectives so long as 'Georgie Fruit' can continue to find musicians with similar visions.
