Currently on a U.S. tour in support of their latest release New Magnetic Wonder, the local six-piece, Apples In Stereo, are showing the country what makes Denver music an unclassifiable anomaly. Their psychedelic, space-rock, power-pop release is the first for Apples in five years. The collection of bubble-gum, soda-shop pop songs are a satisfying, glossy treat for those who have been patiently waiting. New Magnetic Wonder is a 14-song CD with 12 musical segues that typically last no more than a minute. "Energy" is the album's catchy single that begins with acoustic guitar lets and tambourine shake its way into an echoey, vocal-driven pop melody. Though conspicuously influenced by older artists like Electric Light Orchestra and The Beach Boys, Apples manages to bring enough futuristic elements to make Wonder stand as a creation of their own.
