Advertising Policy and Terms of Agreement
Advertising Policy
The individual, group, business, company, and/or corporation (herein after ADVERTISER, ACCOUNT, or ADVERTISEMENT) who enters into an advertising agreement with the CU-Denver Advocate (herein after CU-DENVER ADVOCATE) agrees to abide by all policies and terms set forth in this contractual agreement (herein after RATE CARD).
Verbal agreements as well as promises not specified in this rate card will not be binding. All rates specified in this rate card are subject to change as per a thirty (30) days notice issued by the CU-Denver Advocate's advertising office with advice from the editor-in-chief.
All advertising is subject to review, rejection, or acceptance by the CU-Denver Advocate advertising staff with advice from the editor-in-chief. Should it be necessary, a review board will determine if the advertising meets the standards set forth by the mission statement of the CU-Denver Advocate. The CU-Denver Advocate reserves the right to reject any advertisement at any time.
All political advertisements must adhere to State of Colorado campaign disclosure laws; are subject to review, rejection, or acceptance by the CU-Denver Advocate advertising staff with advice from the editor-in-chief; and must be prepaid. All political advertisements must show clear endorsement, i.e. 'Paid for by advertiser.' All political advertisements resembling that of a newspaper story or article in any way must be bordered with the words 'Paid Advertisement' printed clearly above it.
Deadline Policy
The deadline for placement of advertisements in the CU-Denver Advocate is 5 p.m. the Thursday before publication. In the event this Thursday should fall on a holiday, the deadline for placement is 5 p.m. one week (the previous Wednesday) before publication. It is the responsibility of the advertiser to get the advertisement to the offices of the CU-Denver Advocate by courier, mail, or the Internet. Late advertisements will be accepted on a case-by-case basis and may be assessed a late charge of $25. Unless advertisements are canceled according to the CU-Denver Advocate advertising cancellation policy (see below), the advertiser is accountable for reserved advertising space and the full amount of the placed advertisement will be charged to the advertiser. If the advertiser fails to send artwork for the advertising space, the full amount of the placed advertisement also will be charged to the advertiser.
Payment Policy
All payments for advertisements placed by first-time advertisers with the CU-Denver Advocate must be prepaid. All subsequent advertisements placed in the CU-Denver Advocate must either be prepaid or sent to the CU-Denver Advocate's advertising office within thirty (30) days of billing. Any payment not received within thirty (30) days will incur a 1.5 percent interest charge. All payments not received within sixty (60) days will be turned over to the University of Colorado at Denver's collections department.
