Few people on the Internet can consistently stir emotions inside hundreds of thousands of people. Yet, one man takes home the gold medal in this week after week after week. This is funny because Chris Chase, the man in question, was an Olympics, NFL, and Tennis Blogger for over four years during his stint at Yahoo. Apparently, it appears that a few months ago, Chris Chase was fired.
Chris Chase is the kind of bratty writer that excites you with promises of good storytelling. Once you reach the articles he writes however, you find that they are complete, utter, disgusting garbage.
Chris Chase is so hated on the Web, that all of his articles, are hardly ever read. Everyone skips straight to the comments section to see what witty, clever, method of humiliation and name-calling the public choose to go with this time around to insult Chris. People are so passionate about hating Chris Chase, they legitimately believe he writes shitty articles on purpose.
It’s not hard to believe that however. Farfetched it may seem at first, after getting knee deep in the pile of cow manure Chase spits out for the week, you come to realize that everyone has a point. This man, cannot, for the life of him, write. Sure he occasionally had good hooks and titles in his stories. But that’s all that he is talented in.
During the 2008 Beijing Olympics and even the 2012 London Olympics, Chase was so blatantly bias against other players and their respective countries that people get offended. So deep runs this hatred that several groups on various websites have organized and created sites, blogs, or Facebook pages, dedicated to firing Mr. Chris Chase.
As it turns out, their wishes were granted. Almost as soon as Marissa Mayer became CEO of Yahoo, it appears Chase was fired. Whether or not it was Marissa Mayer’s direct influence and public pressure that led to his undoing or a completely different reason altogether, fired or not, Chris Chase is no longer working at Yahoo.
Normally, this would be a great victory for journalism, and perhaps a more balanced return to better writing for blogs and news. Alas, Chris Chase was immediately picked up by USA Today as a senior blog editor. Doh!
With riveting stories about how “Jerry Jones’ son-in-law wipes his glasses for him,” or how “Kevin James tries to hit between the legs shot at U.S. Open exhibition” you can be sure that Chase’s unique brand of captivating stories will continue to produce a passionate amount of emotions within the e-community.
