Terezka is a child confused by her parents distancing relationship. Her only comfort comes from nightly readings of "Little Red Riding Hood". Extremely intelligent, Terezka blends her child innocence with her favorite story and wild imagination, all the while trying to make sense of her life.

In this new Czech film, Terezka (Dorotka Dedkova) is an adorable little girl attempting to understand a world that is much to adult for her taste.  Her inability to  understand the adult world, or her resistance to gives her some very funny and quirky ideas, including questioning if her mother is an alien. Dedkova is an impressive child actress and captures her own innocence amazingly well.

The cinematography of Terezka's dream sequences are also very well done, bringing out the rich reds of her dress and the green surroundings of the forest.  Unfortunately, these parts were a bit hard to follow within the general flow of the story, but they leave you wanting more insight into the dream and her imagination.

Overall, the film was just too predictable.  The essence of being a child was captured very well, but the story seemed familiar in a way that makes you feel like you have seen it before.  If the director would have played more with the intense dream images and perhaps reflected even more of the imagination of Terezka, the best parts of the film could be intensified.
