When you think of Nicolas Cage what do you think of? If this was the 90’s you might recall the success of some films such as Con Air orsmaller more character driven dramas such as the Golden Globe and Oscar winning Leaving Las Vegas and the Coen Brothers directed Raising Arizona.

Nevertheless this is not the 90’s, Gone is Sixty Seconds was released 13 years ago, and Nick Cage has not only released a plethora of estranged movies—not that he hadn’t already done so in the 90’s, but he really outdid himself in the new millennium—and finds himself in the midst of being a part of a dozen new projects in the next two years, and stars as one of the most famous memes used in the internet today.

TheYou Don’t Say! Meme, and the How’d it get Burned!? Meme come from Vampires Kiss and The Wicker Man films respectively. That being said, as fascinating as Nicolas Cage is, his acting career has really been a rollercoaster ride to say the least. Having an interest in artsy character driven films, as well as big blockbuster action films sounds like a an interesting combination for an actor to embark on.

The problem is that Nicolas Cage seems to be the only big Hollywood star willing to take on such projects. It means we get to see some genuinely good acting in action films such as Kick-Ass to some seriously bad Bangkok Dangerous andSorcerer’s Apprentice style garbage.

I like Nick Cage. He is a good actor who dedicated himself to what he does: acting. He does it well, but he does it really poorly too. With 12 projects in the pipeline including sequels to National Treasure and Kick-Ass we can only expect to see Cage a whole lot over the next 2 years. He continues to make huge flops, and huge money balls, so as far as he is concerned the sky is the limit.
