A cupcake to remember

Cupcake Love is a part of Denver Gourmet’s “Tours and Tastings of Denver’s Delicious Destinations,” and is the perfect way to spend time with that special someone.

The class is full of mixing, beating, baking, and creating your very own delicious cupcakes. Whether you are an expert at baking desserts or don’t have the slightest clue how to turn an oven on, this class will be a blast.

It is a class about how to make cupcakes from the very beginning with no shortcuts, and then decorate them however you want. Don’t worry if you aren’t schooled in the ways of cupcakes, since it is a learning environment.

Some flavors to choose from are tasty mint chocolate chip, sweet key lime, or alcohol-free piña colada. You can even mix two, or even three, flavors into a heavenly, mouthwatering delicacy.

After picking your flavor, you go into Decorating 101. There are four basic decorating techniques to master, including the closed star, the open star, the French, and the plain round.

In some cases, fondant is available to make designs for the top of your cupcakes. Fondant is used similarly to molding clay.

In addition to your own cupcakes, you'll get to bring home a recipe for your own personal cupcakes. Whenever birthdays or special occasions come around, you will be the most popular one at the party. No more making cakes or cupcakes from a box. You are a pro and can do it from scratch.

Everything is done by hand with the best ingredients, so each bite will be heaven in your mouth.

The whole class isn’t just cooking, though, and don’t expect to stay in one spot—it is also a tour. Depending on each stop, there will be four to six delicious destinations where you will meet specialists and try all kinds of foods. There will be flavors you taste that you didn’t even know existed.

Chelly Vitry runs the course and you can count on her skills, as well as her passion for astonishing culinary experiences. Not only does she bake well, but she also specializes in sales, food writing, tour design and implementation, event design and management, team building events, and project management.
