Forget booksellers like Barnes & Noble; if you’re looking for books, there’s no better place than Black and Read.

Located in Arvada, Black and Read sells used music, movies, and most importantly, books at excellent prices. Most books, depending on the shape they’re in, range from $3–10, much cheaper than anything you’ll find at Tattered Cover.

One of the greatest things about Black and Read is that you can trade in books that you no longer want for store credit or cash. The best bet is to accept the store credit option because it’s generally a higher amount, and you can spend time browsing the shelves for the perfect tome to add to your collection.

Readers of both fiction and nonfiction are sure to find something at Black and Read, and the store has an impressive amount of mystery novels and literary classics. Fans of Stephen King are also in luck since the store has an overflow of the author’s work at a much lower price than retail.

What makes Black and Read so special is the store’s atmosphere. Books are organized alphabetically and by genre, but they spill off the shelves and onto the floor. So, sometimes you can find interesting things that have been buried by newer additions to the stacks. And, since it’s a used bookstore, many of the editions are old and collectable.

It’s easy to get lost in the stacks at Black and Read, and for the price of one book at a chain bookstore you can walk out with an armful of excellent, pre-loved books.
