Auraria Ski and Ride is exactly what the name states: a group of students from all three institutions—CU Denver, Metro, and CCD—get together several weekends a year to go skiing and snowboarding.

It’s a newer group with only one season under its belt, but that is all the more reason to help it progress into something more. Since the organization started, it has only grown. It now has over 90 members.

Since there are so many people in the group, not everyone always goes. When members have the time, they head up to the resorts. The group is very lenient and flexible with students’ schedules.

No matter what skill level—green, blue, black, or double black diamond—anyone can join in the fun and become a member of the club.

Instead of everyone sticking together, each skier and snowboarder can go at his or her own pace. Members are able to split up into groups based on skill level.

Auraria Ski and Ride is not a competitive club; it’s more of a learning environment. There may be some competition among members, but nothing like the Winter X Games. The club is for fun and learning.

Each member pays for his or her own pass to get on the mountain. In order to get there, they set up carpools and make sure everyone has a ride.

Grab some skis and poles, or if that doesn’t work, get a snowboard, and head over to join the ski and snowboarding club.
