Brandi Shigley certainly knows how to produce something wonderful. Whether it's a fabulous handbag or a high-energy fashion show, this do-it-herself entrepreneur (best known for being the mastermind behind Fashion Denver) approaches everything she does with an aesthetically pleasing and classy touch. Especially her music.
Inspired by her love of the French language, musical theatre, and children's songs, Shigley wrote the adorable tune "Dormir Bien." Soon after, B.Sous was born.
The name of Shigley's music project draws from her many different loves and talents. "B.Sous combines my love of the French language (bisous meaning to kiss) and me, Brandi Sue!" Shigley said. "B.Sous is the musical extension of me."
The music of B.Sous certainly is not for the diabetic. Brandi's scrumptiously sweet lyrics and pop vocals so cute, the only thing to do after attending one of B.Sous's shows is to go out for ice-cream, wrap up in your favorite blanket and watch old re-runs of My Little Pony.
The music, though inventive and musically impressive, may not be for everyone—those that appreciate a harder sound, for example, will probably not like it. Ironically enough, though, key players in the inception of the project hail from punk bands such at the Hate Fuck Trio, Chewbacca Bukkake, and L'elan Vital.
Shigley hopes to send a happy and positive message with the lyrics of B.Sous. The soft vocals and bubblegum beats in her songs are uplifting. Shigley's personal favorite, "Is It Me, Or Is It Monday" always makes her happy, she said.
A performance from B.Sous is certainly not a show for somebody looking to release energy and rock out. It's for the music lover looking to hear amazing pop music that affirms the goodness that's everywhere you turn.
