Somethin' Bout Kreay

The success of her YouTube single “Gucci Gucci,” which got 38 million views, quickly prompted record labels to offer Kreayshawn record deals. Columbia Records eventually succeeded, resulting in the release of the mess that is Somethin’ Bout Kreay.

The Somethin’ in the title is that Columbia fucked up. The entire album is garbage from beginning to end. “BFF (Bestfriend)” has shitty singing, production, mixing, and lyrics, leaving listeners with a bad taste in their mouths. “K234YSONIXZ,” a play on the J.J. Fad 80s hit “Supersonic” has been done a million times by women in rap for ages—Fergie with “Fergalicious”—and frankly has been done so many times that this version is downright disrespectful.

“Left Ey3,” is a song about cheating men, and how really “ghetto bitches” handle their business by paying respects to the deceased Left Eye and Amy Whinehouse. The line “Rolling through the Westside/I’m ‘bout burn this motherfucker down like I’m Left Eye” is literally the highlight of Somethin’ Bout Kreay. Everything else is just a melting pot of blabbering, spewing nonsense.

Not only is this a critically terrible album, but despite being a major label release it also is one of the worst first week release performances ever. A pathetic 3,900 units were sold; even Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’ wankster ex-husband sold over 1000 more units when he debuted. Saying the N-word might get Kreayshawn YouTube views, but it won’t sell her album.
