Slim Cessna
7 p.m., March 13, Oriental
Slim Cessna’s Auto Club has been giving a Gothic blend of country rock to Denver for over a decade, and the band isn’t showing any signs of weakness. Cessna’s heyday may have come and gone (if it ever had one), but that’s not stopping the group from making solid records and playing shows. This persistence is only seen in bands that like to make music, believe it or not.

Pretty Lights
10 p.m., March 13, Ogden
Fort Collins electro hip-hop DJ Pretty Lights seems to be making a point to sell out all the theaters in Colorado this month before he heads off to South By Southwest. He just added another show at the Ogden, hoping that there is enough Ecstasy left in the state for another go. Otherwise, expect an army of frat boys from Boulder to pick fights with complete strangers in the middle of Colfax.

Experience Hendrix
7:30 p.m., March 14, Paramount
Remember that killer time Jimi Hendrix shredded at Woodstock, man? No, you probably don’t. But don’t worry, wannabe hippies as well as aging ones can now pay nearly $100 to remain hopelessly stuck in the past. While the lineup features a slew of guitarists like Joe Satriani, that dude from Aerosmith, and many more, all they’re really proving is that you can’t ever really experience Hendrix anymore. He’s dead, you guys.

Flobots
6 p.m., March 16, Twist & Shout
Politically nuanced hip-hop band the Flobots are planning to do an intimate record store performance promoting the new album Survival Story. It’s safe to say that one should get there early to beat the mob, and only hope that MC Johnny Five is willing to take a moment to say “hi” to anyone who isn’t a groupie.
