Shat
8 p.m., April 30, 3 Kings Tavern
Have you ever listened to music that was so offensively wrong that you actually shit yourself? Probably not, but that's what the New Jersey punk shock-rock band Shat must be aiming for. With songs like "Rob From The Rich And Give To The Whore" on an album called Cunt-A-Doodle-Do, it makes you wonder if anyone in the band made it past eighth grade.
Lion Sized
8 p.m., May 1, Hi-Dive
Local post-punk band Lion Sized has been chuggin' along for quite some time now. The band is releasing a new EP, Cough Up Your Teeth, after years of silence. Seeing this band once will not only make you long for the days of Fugazi and Sonic Youth, but it will also remind you of how not taking a shower for five weeks used to be sexy. Well, it actually wasn't. But at least you tried.
Lyle Lovett
8 p.m., May 1, Colorado Academy
Country crooner Lyle Lovett isn't a stranger to playing nerdy or creepy roles in monumental films like Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas and The Player. Maybe that's because his Eraserhead-style haircut is ridiculous, much like his sappy ballads.
Denver Noise Fest
9 p.m., April 30 -May 1, Old Curtis Street Bar/Further Shoppe
Noise musicians from all over the country like Denver's Via and New York's No Fun Acid are coming to Denver to give us migraine-inducing sounds to last the whole weekend. If you're unfamiliar with this genre, then simply look at the poster for this event. It depicts a jackhammer pounding on a human skull—this should be self-explanatory.
