Zambri, an experimental duo from New York, can proudly represent the title of the experimental genre with their freshly-released album House Of Baasa. While expressing their unique approaches in songwriting, the two sisters stay true to this style of music.
If you are one of those people who are afraid to listen to experimental music because it might be too experimental for you, have no fear of listening to this duo’s work. Tasteful music with complex sound blends pleasant female voices and deep, yet not overly complicated lyrics. Everything about this album is in “good taste.”
The album as a whole in itself feels content and relaxed, with lighter songs. However, the opening song “All You Maybes” can deceive you into believing the opposite. The first song full of drum beats and metallic sounds doesn’t prepare listeners for faster beats in the middle of the playlist. “All You Maybes” doesn’t meet its match in the feel of the rest of the album. Still, the song is great and worth being on the album.
House Of Baasa mixes edgy sounds with pop motives. “From The Starts” has a very pop sound to it. It may still be considered experimental, but the influences of female pop artists are very distinctive in this song. Still, the song is wonderfully pleasing.
The Zambri sisters have extremely nice voices and comfortably switch from one pitch to another. There is some mysteriousness in their vocals that is clearly supported by the music effects and the genre itself. That reason alone is enough to give it a try.
